Integral Education for Kids, La Paz

“Integral education for Kids, La Paz” is an educational project that gives children (4-15 year) a future perspective.

The project started at the end of 2003 and now, when the objectives had been achieved, we can consider it finalized.

Business Training for Women (Jan 06- April 08)
The Aluor Widows are a group of widows living in the rural areas of Western Kenya, mostly HIV infected and caretakers of orphans after their parents died due to HIV. The widows were ailing themselves and not coping to cater for the need of the children.The aim of the project was to improve the health of the women and get them out of misery and poverty and to support the children with material support to keep them healthy and in school.  The “Business Training for women” project started in January 2006 and now, when the objectives had been achieved, we can consider it finalized.
Professional Education, Pescar. Finished Promotions, 2004/2005 and 2006/2007
The projects motivated students to gain a complete and consistent education which provided them an access to better-qualified jobs and opportunities. The Pescar programme has created a network of educational centres in Argentina, within different enterprises, where teenagers receive a personal and professional education. The main goal of this proposal was to guarantee students their inclusion in society.
Shelter Don Bosco India
NOTS's donors together with other social development aid organizations have contributed to reach out to every street child while creating an environment where children are empowered to stand up for his rights and to face life in a positive manner.
Agricultural Information. Bolivia
Due to people's commitment and donations, the Agricultural Information Project has been funded enough to obtain its necessary resources to become sustainable and continue independently achieving its goals.
ConBeca Scholarship / Finished Promotions: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007
The Con-Beca project is a joint initiative between the NOTS Foundation and Conciencia and was first implemented in May 2003. It gives a three year scholarships (Euros 1.050) to students throughout Argentina; students that otherwise would not be able to continue their studies due to financial problems.


Integral Education for Kids, La Paz

After working more than 5 years inside the community of the School N° 7 and thank to your support to the “Integral Education for Kids, La Paz” from now on this School will be able to be self-sufficient.

During the years that the program has been working it has been reached great results as much in the students and their families, as in the school and the own community.


Students who participated in the program
:

  • Have a higher school attendance rate (as a result of receiving school supplies and shoes).
  • Improved their school performance after tutors were hired.
  • Attended an annual medical check-up.
  • Could count on medical assistance from their region’s health center.
  • Had access to a computer and could learn how to use it.
  • Participated in recreational activities.
  • Could organize festivities for Children’s Day, Student’s Day, a Spring Celebration, an End of the Year Celebration, and others.
  • Attended workshops on dental hygiene, children’s rights, self-esteem, and health. 

Families who participated in the program

  • Became more involved in their children’s education by meeting with their children’s teachers more frequently.
  • Regularly attended program workshops on children’s rights, conflict resolution, self-esteem, education, health and hygiene, and civic responsibility.
  • Became familiar with the institutions in their neighborhood and were able to take better advantage of those resources.
  • Took their children to their medical check-ups.
  • Took part in a campaign by a group of mothers who worked to build a communal vegetable garden.

Schools in the program received:

  • Textbooks, workbooks, and dictionaries.
  • School supplies and clothes for all children: including pencils, staples, notebooks, paper, shoes, sweatshirts, jackets, and T-shirts.
  • Computers.
  • A repaved street at the school’s entrance. 
  • Rebuilt plumbing. 
  • New heaters, windows, and air vents installed. 
  • Professional development workshops for teachers. 
  • An increase in the number of children attending the school.  
  • An increase in the number of teachers assigned to the school. 
  • Better support from the province’s Director of Schools and Cities. 

The community received

  • A closer relationship with the school.
  • An increase in donations from members of the community to the school.
  • More involvement and support from the school for other institutions and local programs.

Along these years we have seen the children having a higher attendance rate and better results, their families becoming more involved in the education of the kids, the school build improving dramatically and the community actively supporting the school.


Thanks to your support and commitment to the “Integral Education for Kids” project, it has been possible to generate many positive changes, in the school in particular, and in the community in general.


The success of the “Integral Education for Kids” shows clearly that together we can increase the number of people in developing countries who are able to lead a self-supporting life.
