Results
In the last years NOTS has been working on laying a strong basis to offer many low income people a better life in the future. The founders, Bart Hartman and Rolf Visser have invested their time and money, convinced that their new and entrepreneurial approach would change traditional development aid.

NOTS was founded in October 2003. At that time, the founders, Bart Hartman and Rolf Visser, decided to set up their own organisation because they were - and still are - convinced that an entrepreneurial approach is more effective and efficient than the more traditional approach. If they had donated the money they had invested in NOTS to other organisation’s projects, the number of people assisted in acquiring a self-supporting existence over the past years, would, perhaps, have been greater.
But because of the foundation that has been laid by NOTS over the last years, Bart and Rolf are still convinced that by using the NOTS approach they will ultimately be able to help more people acquire a self-supporting existence than they would via donations to traditional development cooperation organisations.

In the years ahead NOTS aims to prove that this is really the case. In the last few years NOTS has achieved several positive results, such as founding and successfully expanding Triple Jump B.V. (NOTS is a co-founder of this specialist microcredit asset management firm), developing the NOTS Microcredit Bonds with a unique fiscal structure, developing the NOTS scholarship concept, the Jatropha pilot plantation, a concentrated solar power pilot plant, a team of excellent staff, alliances with various prominent organisations, a unique structure of a Foundation and associated companies, and a clear and distinctive website.

In the past years, the NOTS team has devoted most of its time and energy to the above-mentioned activities. Relatively little time has been spent on promoting NOTS. That is why NOTS is still unknown to the general public and the amount donated during the past years has been rather small. Additionally, NOTS is going to collaborate with some major banks to promote the NOTS Microcredit Bonds among investors and savers in the Netherlands.

A summary of the projects that NOTS has supported and that have already been concluded can be found in the left-hand margin. The NOTS annual reports outline the details of the objectives for the relevant year and the degree to which those targets have been achieved.
