India

India is a country in South Asia, with its 1.2 million inhabitants the country with the second largest population in the world (after China). The capital of India is New Delhi, however Bombay is India's largest city. Over 60% of the population is engaged in the agricultural sector. India also has a high potential for mining. Also the industry is growing steadily, helped by the low wages. The service sector is also a strong growth area thanks to the high level op eduction in India. Especially the IT-sector is flourishing.


The Indian economy is liberated since the beginning of the '90s. Since then the conomy grew strongly and is the second largest growing economy after China. Despite the strong growth of the Indian economy, the country is still considered a developing country with low income. The average income per capita is 1,070 USD/year (Atlas method).

 

Although most people in urban areas are connected to the electricity grid, there are still many families in rural areas that do not have access to electricity.
