Developing countries are extremely suitable for applying renewable energy systems. In most countries the sun is an abundant, free source of energy, while diesel and kerosene prices are relatively high due to taxes and transport costs. In many developing countries there is also a high potential for biomass due to the large agricultural sector which is producing high amounts of dung and plant residues.
