Education Program for street children, Honduras. Private school.
Education Program for street children, Honduras. Private school. |
 |
|
|
All children who live at Proniño have the opportunity to attend school as soon as they have finished their rehabilitation program. In 2008 two of the boys were given a one year scholarship for private school. Because their results were excellent and the school had become enormously enthusiastic about their perseverance and discipline, a total of four boys will be able to attend private school as of 2009. |

Support a student through a scholarship
Support a student through a scholarship |
Together with NOTS, you can help one or more schoolchildren in a developing country to finish their school education. Only with good schooling does a child have a genuine chance of building up a self-supporting existence. Unfortunately, many children in developing countries do not finish their school education. Together with an Argentinean aid organisation, NOTS has developed a simple but effective scholarship system. The basis of the system is that selected children (from a poor family, motivated, sufficient IQ, etc) receive a monthly amount to buy schoolbooks or to pay for food for themselves and their family. They get this monthly amount only for as long as they stay at school and achieve adequate results. The amount of the contribution is determined by the local living costs. In Argentina, the monthly amount is equivalent to approximately USD 30.
On the basis of the principle described above NOTS, in cooperation with local organisations, has set up scholarship projects in five countries. Each project has its own characteristics (age of the children, type of school, amount of monthly contribution, etc). You can find further details about each of these projects in the left-hand margin.
By donating a monthly or one-off amount, you give one or more children the opportunity to finish school and a chance for a decent life. Of the amount you donate, 90% is invested in the schoolchildren in the form of a scholarship. The remaining 10% is used to cover the expenses of NOTS and of the local NOTS partner. It is also possible for a group of colleagues or friends to adopt one of the projects for one or more years. If you would like to know more about this ‘tailor-made’ possibility, please contact us by e-mail at info@nots.nl or by telephone: +31 (0)20 3059108.
You can choose under which project you would like to support children. You will receive a summarised report on the project you support financially by e-mail four times a year, so that you can keep track of the impact of your donation.
